Deeper Evolutionary and Esoteric Implications

Designed to help foster the global transition to a sustainable, cooperative and just society, the Spheres of Co-Creation is both: 1) a dynamic model of the holarchic, nested, interconnected levels of our being, from the innermost levels of consciousness to complex outer systems, and 2) an interactive database facilitating the collaboration of organizations working at these levels.

The spheres indicated are not discrete, separate levels of our being, but flow from the innermost levels outwards, and from outwards in again, as one interconnected, dynamic whole. The nature of the flow is like a torus, where outer systems-change – ecological, economic, sociopolitical – flows from inner consciousness-change, and systems-change in turn shapes and informs our consciousness, both individually and collectively. In this way it depicts the continuous feedback loop between the inner, invisible and outer, visible dimensions of our being, which drive the currents and patterns of our evolution. 

The model serves multiple functions, both visionary and practical:

   

■      1. Bridging the Spirit/Matter Split: It shows the interconnected relationship between the inner and outer, or spiritual and material, dimensions of our being, overcoming the spirit/matter split that has characterized both our religious traditions and materialist social systems

■      2. Framework for Spiritual Activism: This becomes the basis for spiritual activism, i.e., bringing spirituality into action at all the different levels of our being, including the levels of our personal and psychological healing as well as collective cultural, ecological, economic and socio-political dimensions. At the same time we see the ontological, nested spectrum of the different dimensions of our being, we also see the necessity, and access the possibilities, of an integrated vision for transformation at all these levels

■      3. Collaborative Interactive Database:  From the practical point of view, the model is also designed to serve as an on-line database and interactive platform for organizations working at all these levels of transformation to enter themselves, find each other and collaborate. Individuals and groups can enter themselves in the relevant sphere and level of action/focus they are involved in, share best practices, and expand beyond their own silos to forge alliances across other spheres, perspectives and levels of action, coordinating diverse sectors, knowledge and skills for multi-dimensional, holistic transformation

■      4. The Power of Integral Vision -- Synergizing Actions, Bridging Divides and Building Solidarity:  Even though no one individual or group can work at all these levels, simply seeing how all the levels function as a dynamic, interconnected spectrum vastly expands the horizons, understanding and power of those working at each level. The model helps them see themselves as part of a greater Whole, a global, synergistic movement of solidarity, which in turn builds hope, inspiration, mutual support and strength, generating cumulative momentum and critical mass for deep-rooted whole-systems change

■      5. Bridging the Physical and Metaphysical Domains: For those interested in an ontological, evolutionary vision of the different dimensions of our being, the model offers a framework for both contemplation and action. As a visual depiction of the spectrum of levels between the innermost levels of Consciousness and subtle energy to the outermost complex social, planetary and Cosmic systems, it can serve as both a mandala for meditation, awakening us to the deeper and wider dimensions of our being, as well as a springboard for action, opening us up to the possibilities of unseen dimensions at play in the current evolutionary moment, and how to align with them to effect the greatest leverage for change. Contemplated deeply and embodied in practice, it can transmute our perception and worldview from a fragmented, disconnected, powerless one to an integral, interconnective one, with the evolutionary power to change things, and access to the eternal, indestructible level of our being to ground, inspire and empower us.

■      6. A Quantum Leap in Our Thinking: The torus-like nature of the model helps us move beyond linear modes of thinking, and attunes us to the non-linear, mutually-causal dynamics between different levels of our being and levels of transformation. Westerners generally operate from linear notions of growth, progress and causality yet the patterns in nature and history are in fact cyclical and spiral. The more we can attune to them and coordinate with these movements, the better our chances for the whole-systems transformation we are seeking.
